For many years, the Central congregation has offered planned, structured Bible classes for
children of all ages, which meet on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings. These classes are
taught by dedicated members who plan their lessons and faithfully teach God’s word to our young
people. The deacon our elders have tasked with organizing these children’s classes and assigning
teachers, is Mark Norris. Mark says, “A healthy Bible school program is a vital part of the
foundation of a strong and growing congregation. To know God, we need to study and meditate
on his word. We are blessed to have a strong program here at the Central church of Christ, and
would like to recognize the teachers and students who make it what it is.”
I have asked Mark to submit for the Bulletin some information about those involved in our
Bible school classes, and I am pleased to include in this issue the first of what I hope will be several
of these reports. Please take a few moments and familiarize yourself with who is teaching the
classes, as well as some of our great students.
Mary Marshall teachers our four, fives, and K’s. Mary has been a Christian for over 45
years, and has been teaching for over 10 years. When Mark asked the reason she teaches, she
emphasized her love for the children, and the fact that she has learned more by teaching, then by
attending as a student! Her favorite Bible passage is Proverbs 3:27, “Withhold not good from them
to whom it is due, When it is in the power of thy hand to do it.” Mary’s hobbies include reading
and puzzles. We thank Mary for her dedication and faithfulness as a Bible school teacher here at
Central.
John Morris, II is 17 years old, working on completing high school. His parents are John
and Heather Morris. When asked about his favorite Bible story, John stated that it is the story of
Jesus being baptized. John’s activities of interest include playing guitar, music, writing, reading,
and cooking. John is a nice young man, always ready with a pleasant smile and greeting for those
around him. We are delighted that he is an active participant in the Bible school here at Central.
Parents, please support our Bible school by having your children present early for each
class and prepared. Say a word of encouragement to their teachers, and encourage your children
to be actively involved! Our thanks to all of our teachers and students!
